Stage 03 / Layout
Decide where everything belongs before refining the details.
The layout turns your approved scope into an arrangement of spaces. This is where we work through placement, spacing and movement so the whole project makes sense together.

Why this stage matters
A beautiful feature still needs the right place.
The relationship between features shapes how your yard will feel and function. A dining area needs usable space around the table. A gathering spot needs a sensible connection to the house. The routes between areas matter as much as the areas themselves.
Resolving those relationships first gives detailed design a stable direction. When placement is still uncertain, choosing finishes or refining a 3D scene can lead to repeated work. Layout approval lets us concentrate the next stage on the character and details of an arrangement you understand.
From idea to decision
How we test the arrangement
Start from the approved brief
We use the agreed features, priorities and site information to develop the arrangement. Basic house geometry helps relate outdoor areas to the home and its points of access.
Work through the spaces between features
We consider scale, traffic flow, furniture clearances and drainage considerations. Simple furniture placeholders help test how people might gather, sit and move through the proposed space.
Explain the layout
The proposed layout and included design-review video updates help you understand the relationships between features. You can consider the arrangement in terms of your own routines and priorities.
Resolve your feedback
We discuss what works and what needs attention, keeping feedback focused on placement, spacing and function before moving into detailed design and visualization.

What you receive
A proposed layout
A view of the selected features and their placement within the project.
Design-review video updates
Included explanations that help you understand the layout and provide useful feedback.
An approved arrangement
A clear basis for developing the materials, features and visual character in the next stage.

What we review together
Imagine a normal day
Think about arriving from the house, carrying food, moving between areas and sitting with family or guests.
Review function before finishes
Tell us where the arrangement supports your priorities and where it feels awkward. This is the stage to resolve those relationships.
Questions about this stage
Why are furniture placeholders useful?
They help show how an area could be occupied and how people would move around it, so you can assess usable space before the finishing details are developed.
Should I choose every material now?
Share preferences that affect the direction, but this stage focuses on arrangement. Materials, finishes and detailed visual choices are developed in Design & Visualization.
