Stage 02 / Site Evaluation & Project Scope Approval
Understand the property. Define the project.
Before deciding where features belong, we bring together your goals and the information about your property. Site & Scope gives the layout a clear, agreed starting point.

Why this stage matters
A convincing image is only one part of a useful plan.
Your project must relate to an existing home, outdoor features, changes in elevation and the way you move through the property. Gathering that information early helps us ask better questions about placement, access and the connections between spaces.
The scope matters just as much as the measurements. Recording what belongs in the project, what matters most and which site considerations need attention helps keep later design decisions connected to the same brief.
From idea to decision
How the information comes together
See the property as a whole
Aerial imagery and photogrammetry help create a view of the site. Jeremy uses the DJI Matrice 4E with RTK positioning corrections and checks the information against on-site measurements.
Add detail from the ground
Emlid Reach RX2 measurements help check elevations and the aerial model. Moasure 2 PRO captures curves, dimensions and elevation changes, while Moasure LX1 records the house footprint and relevant openings.
Connect the information to your goals
We organize the site information alongside your desired features and priorities. The aim is a coordinated design foundation that helps explain the setting in which the project will take shape.
Agree on the project brief
We prepare the scope and project brief for your review. Confirm the features and priorities before the layout begins, and raise questions about anything that could affect the direction.
Different tools. One complete picture.
Drone mapping, ground measurements and house geometry come together in one coordinated design foundation. My experience connects the information to your project.

DJI Matrice 4E + RTK · FAA Part 107
I use the DJI Matrice 4E Enterprise with RTK—live positioning corrections—to turn aerial photos into site maps through photogrammetry. Ground checks help verify the model before we design.

Understand the ground beneath the plan.
Emlid Reach RX2 + ground control points
With the Emlid Reach RX2, I measure elevations and ground control points, then check them against the aerial model. On-site measurements also help fill gaps where tree canopy hides the ground.

Capture the shape of your outdoor spaces.
Moasure 2 PRO + motion-based measurement
I use Moasure 2 PRO to capture curves, dimensions, and elevation changes while walking the property. Digital measurements reduce manual redrawing and help us plan around the outdoor features you already have.

Connect your outdoor plan to the house.
Moasure LX1 + building footprints
With Moasure LX1, I measure the house footprint and relevant doors and windows. These details connect your outdoor layout to the home and help us resolve access and spacing early.
Tools are selected for the needs and conditions of your project. The measurements support design planning; required boundary surveys and engineering are separate professional services.
A useful result
What you receive
Processed site imagery
Visual information that helps establish the property context for design.
An organized project brief
A record of the agreed features, priorities and relevant site considerations.
A defined scope for layout
A shared basis for deciding how the project’s spaces and features should fit together.
Your voice in the process
What we review together
Confirm the priorities
Review what is included and tell us which features or goals should guide difficult trade-offs.
Share what you know
Point out existing features, access concerns or property conditions you want considered, and ask about anything unclear in the brief.
Questions about this stage
Why use more than one measurement tool?
Different tools answer different questions. Aerial imagery, ground measurements and house geometry contribute information that Jeremy checks and brings into one design foundation.
What if I want to change the scope?
Raise the change during review so we can discuss how it affects the brief. Resolving the scope before layout gives the next stage a clearer direction.
